That is why MECU combines your federal deposit insurance coverage (NCUA) with excess deposit insurance protection. Each member account is federally insured to at least $250,000 by the National Credit Union Administration (NCUA), an independent agency of the United States Government. An additional $250,000 of coverage is provided by Excess Share Insurance (ESI), a subsidiary of American Share Insurance (ASI), the nation's largest private deposit insurer. Individual Retirement Accounts are separately insured to $250,000 by the NCUA.
