As your credit union, we understand that when a disaster strikes, one of the most important things we can do for you is to help make the recovery process as easy as possible. We take that responsibility very seriously.
MECU participates in the State of Illinois’ Disaster Loan Program to provide low-interest loans to storm victims whose property has sustained weather-related damage. The loans are available to Illinois residents and business owners living in declared disaster areas who are waiting for insurance settlements or other aid programs to take effect. Residents and business owners who do not have adequate insurance coverage can also apply. The loan can be up to the costs of repairs and expenses, and must be filed within 90 days of a state, federal or local official’s natural disaster declaration.
